Legislative Changes

The Employees' Retirement System of Rhode Island (ERSRI) can be directly impacted by new laws passed by the Rhode Island General Assembly.

The Rhode Island Retirement Security Act of 2011 (RIRSA) made significant changes to retirement benefits for public employee and retiree groups.  For information about the legislation, you can download An Employee's Guide to Understanding the Rhode Island Retirement Security Act , a guide to retirement eligibility and benefits under RIRSA for state employees, teachers, MERS general employees, MERS police and fire, correctional officers, BHDDH nurses, state police and judges. You can also visit this RIRSA Frequently Asked Questions page for additional information.
